Vancouver’s sexiest hotel bars
The hotel bar is a critical amenity: a gateway to the city where jetsetters and residents meet and mingle on neutral turf. The best of the bunch offer an intoxicating mix of local flavour, international sophistication and just a bit of fantasy.
Vancouver, with its bevy of five-star accommodations, has no shortage of sexy hotel bars. Here are two swanky spots to start (or end) your night right.
Reflections Lounge at the Rosewood Hotel Georgia: Psst . . . want in on a local secret? Take the elevator to the fourth floor of the vintage 1927 Hotel Georgia and you’ll discover the city’s hottest rooftop patio: a secluded oasis frequented by Vancouver’s movers and shakers, aspiring models and maybe a few Real Housewives. The classic drinks list recreates cocktails from the hotel’s Roaring Twenties heyday, including the signature Hotel Georgia: a silky blend of gin, orange blossom water, egg white and nutmeg.
Bacchus Lounge at the Wedgewood Hotel: Red velvet banquettes. Dark wood tables and paneling. A pianist tickling the ivories. For classic swank, it’s hard to top this bar overlooking Vancouver’s central Robson Square. And it’s more than eye candy. The AAA Four-Diamond menu is complemented by a wine list worthy of Bacchus himself – a 16-page tome featuring local and international wines by the glass and bottle.
Not ready to go home yet? For Asian-inspired elegance (including waitresses in traditional Mandarin gowns) stop by Xi Shi Lounge at the Shangri La Hotel. Decked out like a turn-of-the-century opium den, the Keefer Bar at the Keefer Suites serves up hipster swank, including retro cabaret shows. Meanwhile, the Fairmont Pacific Rim’s minimalist Lobby Lounge draws Vancouver’s Ferrari-and-fedora set for artisan cocktails and house music.
